Is gabapentin 300 mg a steroid

I was put on Neurontin for Trigeminal Neuralgia (which it turns out I did;t have). After two months on Neurontin, when I took less than my prescribe dose, I developed severe foot pain making it difficult to walk. After 4 months, I made a concerted effort to wean off. Starting at 200 mg three times a day, I decreased it to 200 mg twice a day plus 150 once a day for a week, then 150 twice a day and 200 mg once daily for another, then 150 mg three times a day for a week, then 150 twice a day for a week and finally 150 mg once a day for a week then off. I was off for a short time but due to the pins and needles in my leg started tapering back up. I am now at 150 three times a day and still have pins and needles which worsen over the day. I really want to get off Neurontin and am looking for suggestions.

Immediate-release capsule or tablet (., Neurontin) administration:
May be administered without regard to meals; however, administration with meals may minimize adverse GI effects.
In the treatment of epilepsy the maximum time between doses should not exceed 12 hours.
600 mg and 800 mg tablets may be broken along score line if needed. Advise patients to take the unused half-tablet with the next dose as prescribed. Half-tablets not used within 28 days of breaking the scored tablet should be discarded.
Oral capsules should be swallowed whole with plenty of water.
For Patients with Difficulty Swallowing: In one study, gabapentin capsules were opened, and the contents mixed with drinks (., orange juice) or food (., applesauce) for patients who could not swallow the capsule. Alternately, scored tablets may be cut in half with the second half-tablet used or discarded within 28 days.

Extended-release tablets (., Gralise or Horizant) administration:
NOTE: Due to differing pharmacokinetic profiles and chemical formulations, do not interchange Gralise or Horizant with one another.
Administer with meals; bioavailability is substantially lower if taken on an empty stomach. Patients taking once daily regimens should be instructed to take tablets with the evening meal (around 5 PM).
Swallow extended-release tablets whole; do not split, crush, or chew the tablets.

Gabapentin was given in the diet to mice at 200, 600, and 2000 mg/kg/day and to rats at 250, 1000, and 2000 mg/kg/day for two years. A statistically significant increase in the incidence of pancreatic acinar cell tumours was found only in male rats at the highest dose. Peak plasma drug concentrations in rats at 2000 mg/kg/day are 10 times higher than plasma concentrations in humans given 3600 mg/day. The pancreatic acinar cell tumours in male rats are low-grade malignancies, did not affect survival, did not metastasize or invade surrounding tissue, and were similar to those seen in concurrent controls. The relevance of these pancreatic acinar cell tumours in male rats to carcinogenic risk in humans is unclear.
