Hi Lois, nice to hear from you! Thank you for your interest in our product. I can certainly understand your concerns. Asana may be beneficial to you and here’s why. The primary ingredient is vitex, an ingredient that works to correct hormonal imbalances by regulating levels of the progesterone hormone. Progesterone and estrogen are the two most common hormones in a woman’s body and they both have opposing effects. In other words progesterone keeps estrogen levels in check. When estrogen levels are high, the increase in progesterone helps to balance it out. In many endometriosis cases, there is presence of estrogen dominance which may be the root cause of the endometriosis. High estrogen levels can stimulate endometriosis while progesterone counters it. The vitex herb typically helps to stimulate the production of progesterone in the body and herein lies its effectiveness. In Asana, we’ve combined with maca, shatavari, green tea and ginger to enhance its benefits. Shatavari is a great tonic for women’s uterus and may help to strengthen those areas in addition to reducing adhesions that may lead to blockages. People often fear the phytoestrogenic properties of herbs like shatavari. In cases of endometriosis where estrogen may be a factor, certain phytoestrogens may be beneficial in reducing the harmful effects of high estrogen levels because they can bind with estrogen receptors in the body weakening their effects since phytoestrogens are a weaker form of estrogen. So in addition to helping support a balanced system to reduce excess androgens, Asana may also be beneficial in providing relief in cases of estrogen dominance which is present in many endo cases.
One of the keys to preventing injury is to be physically balanced while you're in motion. Balance is a function of an optimally firing nervous system that is highly sensitive to input from joint, tendon, and muscle receptors, plus receptive muscles and tendons that carry out the nervous system's real-time commands to maintain balance through coordinated muscle contraction and relaxation. None of this happens at anywhere close to your best level if you are tired. If you're not consistently balanced while in motion, you will get injured, it's just a matter of time.
